Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Uknowia ("the Platform," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Uknowia is an AI-powered educational platform that provides:

  • Personalized learning assistance for students
  • Course management tools for educators
  • AI-generated educational content and insights
  • Collaborative learning environments
  • Material sharing and organization features

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account (with parental consent if under 18)
  • One person or entity may not maintain more than one account

3.2 Account Types

  • Student Accounts: Access to courses, chat functionality, and learning tools
  • Educator Accounts: Course creation, material management, and student oversight

4. User Conduct and Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Platform only for lawful educational purposes
  • Not share inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
  • Not attempt to circumvent security measures or access unauthorized areas
  • Not impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Not use automated systems to access the Platform without permission
  • Respect intellectual property rights of others
  • Not engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the Platform

5. Educational Content and AI

5.1 AI-Generated Content

  • Uknowia uses artificial intelligence to generate educational content
  • AI-generated responses are provided for educational purposes only
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content
  • Users should verify important information from authoritative sources

5.2 Content Ownership

  • You retain ownership of content you upload to the Platform
  • By uploading content, you grant us a license to use, store, and process it to provide services
  • Uknowia retains ownership of the Platform, its features, and underlying technology

6. Course Management

6.1 For Educators

  • Educators are responsible for course content and student management
  • Course materials must comply with applicable laws and institutional policies
  • Educators must protect student privacy and handle data responsibly
  • Course passcodes should be shared only with authorized students

6.2 For Students

  • Students may only join courses they are authorized to access
  • Students must follow their institution's academic integrity policies
  • Sharing course passcodes without authorization is prohibited

7. Data and Privacy

  • Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy
  • We collect and process data as described in our Privacy Policy
  • You are responsible for any content you share on the Platform
  • Archived chats are automatically deleted after 30 days

8. Intellectual Property

  • The Platform, including its design, features, and code, is owned by Uknowia
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the Platform
  • Uknowia trademarks and logos may not be used without permission
  • User-generated content remains the property of its creators

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
  • Warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation

We do not guarantee that the Platform will meet your specific educational needs or expectations.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UKNOWIA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or educational opportunities
  • Damages arising from use or inability to use the Platform
  • Reliance on AI-generated content or educational advice

Our total liability shall not exceed $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms
  • Remove content that violates these Terms or applicable laws
  • Modify or discontinue the Platform at any time

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through:

  • Updates to the "Effective Date" at the top of this page
  • Email notifications to registered users
  • In-platform announcements

Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except for:

  • Claims for injunctive or equitable relief
  • Small claims court matters
  • Intellectual property disputes

14. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Uknowia
  • Severability: If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect
  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver of that right
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them without restriction
